Hey I'm Kristen Shelley, most people just call me Shelley, Shell or Kshell so any of those work. I was born in Portland, OR but grew up mostly in Vancouver, WA which is where my family lives now. I love it there, especially because I am close to the Columbia River, Washougal River, Clackamas River, and Mt. Hood. I love doing outdoors activities like rafting, boating, wakeboarding, snowboarding, or just hanging out at the beach. Another passion of mine is dancing. I started taking lessons when I was 5 years old. My sophomore year of high school I stopped going to dance studios and just stuck with my high school dance team, and was captain my senior year. I miss dancing a lot but still try to help out at dance camps and go to classes in the summer. I'm a pretty outgoing person and love to meet new people. A lot of my friends call me "the mom" of the group because I really enjoy helping people. God, my family and my friends are also a huge part of my life. I wouldn't be who I am today without any of those people.

As for school, math and science have always been my strong suit. This helped me chose my major which is nursing. I applied to nursing school January 2010 and will hopefully be accepted and attend either the WSU Spokane Nursing School or Gonzaga Fall 2010. I've never been very talented at writing, so it hasn't really been my favorite subject. Hopefully this semester helps me improve! I try to be super organized when it comes to school and usually try and get my assignments done pretty early because I get stressed when I have a lot of things to do. I was on student council all four years of high school which also pushed me to try my hardest in school.

Another really important part of my life that is pretty recent is being in the sorority Pi Beta Phi. I know there are a lot of stereotypes about sororities but I tried it out anyways and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I have met amazing people and been able to have multiple oportunities in helping the community. Since I will most likely be leaving next year for nursing school I was not able to be on the executive council, but I still try to do as much as I can for the hosue.

Thats pretty much all you need to know about me right now. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

  1. It's sad that you're probably leaving for nursing school then next year. Kristen, from this entry what I can tell about you is that you're very passionate and dedicated; which are qualities people need right now. Nice to see that you like to stay ahead of the game with all your assignments.

What I found most interesting about you was the dancing, how you started it when you were 5 years old. I started piano when I was 5, and it's just really made its mark on me today.

Anyways, I hope I get to know you more through English!

  2. Kristen, it's nice to meet you! I'm from Longview, and actually go to Vancouver quite a bit. I have family that lives there and a few friends also. What school did you go to? I'm sure you'll have a blast living in Spokane, I went there for the first time last semester and really liked the city.

As for school I'm kinda the same way, need to be really organized and get my stuff done otherwise I stress out. I like that you enjoy being involved with things also, its always good to help out. I look forward to meeting you!

  3. Sounds like you are living the good life. Doing something you love since you were 5. Taking a "risk" and having it pay off. Too bad you have to leave the sorority. Your time in a sorority can be a lot of fun with all the connections you make. Or should be fun. I wouldn't know.
And good luck on your application. Sounds like you know what you want.
